Aprilia AF1 Europa, Type FV

The Aprilia AF1 Europa 125  is a naked road motorcycle produced by the Italian manufacturer from 1990 to 1992. Derived directly from the faired Futura Type FM model it offered high-tuned two-stroke performance with a more relaxed, upright naked roadster posture.

The Europa was designed as a direct alternative to the hugely successful Honda NSR-F, with styling much less focused on racing and more on every day practicalities it probably suffered because the styling was a little too traditional compared to more youthful Honda

The bike itself was based on the Type FM Futura which it shares the rolling chassis, engine and fuel tank, the trail is slightly increased but this looks like longer fork bottoms rather than a chassis change? It also features a unique seat unit with combined dual seat, round headlight, mudguard, unique clocks, top yoke and higher rise handlebars. Internally the gearing was altered to bias acceleration and the carburettor has a different set up even though it still uses the 34mm unit.

Performance**: in acceleration tests over the 400-meter distance from 50 km/h, the Europa recorded a time of 17.708 seconds and a top speed of 110.75 km/h, compared to a time of 19.650 seconds and a top speed of 94.240 km/h recorded by the Futura.
Maximum speed is 153.8 km/h compared to 164.150 km/h for the Futura.
